    With over 30 years of experience in banking, finance and accounting, Carlos is a strong analytical, lateral thinker with demonstrated ability to convert problems into solutions, and a capacity to interpret complex information quickly and accurately.     Carlos’ early career involved roles with Arthur Andersen, specialising in the finance sector audits with Bankers Trust in accounting and finance, CitiBank and ANZ Funds Management in product management. He subsequently moved to ANZ Institutional Bank where he was responsible for the New Product Committee and distribution of structured products into ANZ Private Bank. He had a similar role with NAB Institutional Bank, before heading up Product, Sales and Marketing for ANZ Private Bank. He was then offered a role with ANZ as the Head of Syndication and Equity, before moving to Bank of Melbourne in 2011 as Director of Private Wealth Services.

    In 2014 he established the Yellow Brick Road Melbourne CBD franchise where he was a Mortgage Broker and Financial Adviser for 8+ years. He has now joined Taking Control Finance Services as a Partner and Mortgage Broker. As a direct, articulate and intelligent communicator who understands his audience, Carlos is looking forward to bringing his skills and wealth of finance knowledge to the Taking Control group.

    Carlos has 2 adult children and is extremely proud of their achievements. He understands firsthand the struggles young people face in building their savings, getting their financial independence, and buying their first homes, and can help guide you through the complexity of managing your financial situation.

    Carlos is fluent in Spanish and likes to relax by spending time with family. He enjoys going to the beach and surfing, as well as good food and fine wines. He loves most sports but is very passionate about soccer and AFL

  • If you haven’t met Rob yet (or Robbie, as he’ll invite you to call him), then there’s a great chance you’re connected in some way. With a background living and working in regional Victoria, Robbie grew up in family-driven communities and has built his business around it.

    Whether it’s in line at the local coffee shop or meeting new clients at Taking Control, Robbie loves talking to people, and he takes pride in helping others in his community. Before becoming a mortgage broker, Robbie was a high performing Branch Manager for NAB. After many years of supporting both business and personal clients as they achieved their financial goals, he learned the ins and outs of the finance world and started taking note of how it could be improved upon. Robbie is determined to fill those gaps in order to provide an unmatched service to his clients.

    Robbie is first to point out that his success comes from developing relationships with people and understanding their long-term goals. To participate in the fast-paced property market of today, buyers need a finance partner that can be solution-focused, creative, and fast at what they do.

    After working in banking for many years, Robbie is familiar with what buyers are up against when working with lenders at larger institutions. Banks can often be working with more restrictive lending criteria, slower internal processes, and more limited financing options than what brokerages can offer. Taking Control enables Robbie to overcome these challenges and better support buyers looking for a loan.

    Robbie is just as disciplined and committed outside the office as he is at Taking Control. When he’s not working, you’ll find him maintaining a regular gym routine and raising his two children Danika and Logan with his partner Bryony. He is an active part of the Filipino community in Bendigo and Melbourne, where he enjoys playing basketball or enjoying authentic Filipino cuisine.

  • Dan has been involved in finance for over ten years, with a passion for helping his clients achieve their financial dreams. He started up his own business in 2014, investing in the US property market post the Global Financial Crisis. This meant completing countless hours of education in his own time to understand how it all worked.

    In 2016 Dan moved into a career in banking, beginning as a teller at Westpac before stepping into the role of Personal Banker. In 2017 he jumped ship to NAB where he worked as a Home Loan Specialist. Finding himself to be very successful within the branch lending role, Dan moved into the mobile lending role where he really grew and developed as a person. He was then approached by his General Manager to take over as the Branch Manager at one of NAB’s biggest branches, Western Branch on the corner of William & Collins St in Melbourne’s CBD. He managed the branch all the way through COVID, until the bank decided to close it and reopen at a future date. Early in 2021 Dan obtained his Cert IV in Finance & Mortgage Broking and took on the role of General Manager & Mortgage Broker at Yellow Brick Road Carlton.

    Dan’s excellent financial knowledge and his commitment to providing a superior client experience resulted in him being welcomed to the Taking Control team as a Partner & Finance Specialist in mid 2022. He is personable, polite, trustworthy, and he truly cares about his clients’ needs and financial well-being. Dan responds quickly to inquiries and discusses his methods in an easy-to-understand manner, keeping his clients informed every step of the way. He takes pride in keeping his clients on track and helping them achieve their goals.

    Outside of work, Dan has a passion for animals, travelling, sports (both playing and watching) and dining out experiences.

Brett thoroughly enjoys his sport following the Adelaide Crows and whilst he previously played and was heavily involved in cricket and football for his local club Tanunda, he now spends most of his free time playing golf at Tanunda Pines and socialising with friends and family.

Since 2006, Matt has been heavily involved in construction and business management and he still holds a commercial building licence.
